On July 15, 2024, Yuan Jinyun, academician of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, tenured professor in the Mathematics Department of the Federal University of Paraná (Universidade Federal do Paraná or UFPR), Brazil, and Director of Cooperation Department with China of the Araucaria Foundation of Paraná, Brazil, visited the secretariat of ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance (hereinafter referred to as the Think Tank Alliance) for exchanges and discussions. He had in-depth exchanges and discussions with Li Junkai, Secretary-General of the Think Tank Alliance and Director of the Center for International and Regional Cooperation of the BJAST. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on ways to promote non-governmental scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between the Think Tank Alliance and Brazil.

At the forum, Academician Yuan Jinyun introduced the overall development of think tanks in Brazil, and specifically listed the basic information and characteristics of think tanks such as the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Brazil, the Araucaria Foundation, the University of Brasília, the Science and Technology Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of Brazil, and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Academician Yuan Jinyun also shared practical experience in technological exchanges and cooperation in Brazil, and provided valuable guidance and suggestions for the Think Tank Alliance to carry out non-governmental technological exchanges and cooperation with Brazil. As an outstanding representative of the academic community, Academician Yuan Jinyun has served on the editorial board of several SCI journals. He has published more than 130 scientific research papers and has enjoyed the highest scientific and technological government allowance in Brazil for his outstanding academic achievements and contributions. Moreover, he has been awarded the Brazil National Science Award and the Grand Cross of Science and Technology of Brazil by the President of Brazil.

Li Junkai expressed her gratitude to Academician Yuan Jinyun for his guidance and support. She said that the Think Tank Alliance has been committed to promoting international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation as well as sustainable development, and strengthening exchanges and cooperation with Brazil and other countries around the world is an important direction of its internationalization. The two sides also conduct further exchanges and discussions on matters such as joint activities of the brand building of China-Brazil cooperation.
